Freshly painted shoes for the kid

Our local neighborhood Dollar General had a bin of $6 shoes. Now generally the idea of $6 shoes (and more so the idea of a bin of shoes) would be a turn off unless they were a really good pair of shoes on a really good markdown. But seeing as this is Dollar General...well, you get my drift. Anyway, they've had this bin of $6 sneakers for a while, but never had a size that would fit anyone in our little tribe...that is until yesterday. I lucked up a pair of black knock off Chuck Taylors, size 9, just big enough for Bijou. Being the person that I am (I have a hard time leaving well enough alone), I decided to fresh them up with a custom paint job. I wanted to make sure that they still looked like a little girl's shoes without looking girlie. I think they came out very cute. After I painted the picture on them, I covered the entire painted area with a sparkly fabric paint. She gets her sparkly sneakers and I don't have to look at princess or daisies. Everyone's happy! I will post pictures of her wearing them as soon as I can.

  1. how cute, but i am not that artistic...i will however consider this...my son is oftimes too big for the character shoes (he is a TALL 4 yo) so maybe i will try my hand at his favorite disney character on some shoes in the future...thanks for sharing

  4. I love the shoes! Kids feet grow so fast, and when we need play shoes The $ store is a great spot.

  5. Thanks, Darcel. Kids shoes are such a ridiculously expensive thing, especially when you have four. But it's so hard to find shoes that aren't repulsive as well as inexpensive. I was happy to luck up on these simple black ones.
