Metal on the horizon?

So the girls (3/4 of them) had dental checkups today. They all passed with flying colors - not a single cavity in the bunch. Woo hoo! Unfortunately, Ashni has a couple of teeth coming in at an odd angle. I noticed it a few weeks ago when they made their appearance. SO, we get to go see the ORTHODONTIST!!! Yay. I can only imagine the potential for partially masticated chaos that will insue in the braces of my food loving seven year old. How is any human being (doctor or not) going to give MY Ashni a list of things that she CAN'T eat? Can't eat? Are you serious? Oh well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

  1. Ah Adrienne,

I can tell you're old :-) - just like me. I hear you on the memories of braces and food stuff getting stuck in them; not a pretty sight. I'm no dentist and not in the field, but times have-a-changed. They have new fandangled stuff now, so metal isn't always required. She may (or may not) have some food restrictions, but some braces are actually quite attractive now.

I have two coming up who will need braces. I hope the third doesn't follow their paths.

  2. Oh man. We just had a pretty ugly experience with a cavity and a cap and a dentist that didn't numb my son enough. not a happy camper.

  3. yeah, I'm old, LOL. I have NO experience with braces. I have blessed with straight teeth. The kids actually do pretty good at the dentist. Bijou did so well with getting her cavaties filled that they all remembered her as soon as we came in the door. If only I could get her to behave that well at home.
